Take time for yourself
What better than a relaxing weekend away for two?
At this time of year, you will love booking a session in one of the Balnéo & Thalasso establishments for a wonderfully relaxing experience.
Walk along the beaches in the fresh air
The Bay’s beaches have a completely different feel to them in winter. The intense blue of summer is replaced by more purple colours, especially towards the end of the day. During your walk in the fresh air, take the opportunity to collect drift wood, an essential part of any Arcachon-style interior decoration.
An outing in the peace and quiet of the forest
At this time of year, the leaves have all already fallen in autumn and only the conifers proudly withstand the bracing winds, providing the perfect setting for a walk in the forest picking up pine cones or simply enjoying nature in the quiet of winter.
Read a book with a good hot chocolate
What better than choosing a good book and heading to a cafe or bar to get stuck into it in the warm? The little extra? Add in a hot chocolate or café Viennois and you’ve got all the ingredients for a perfect winter’s day!
A trip in a pinasse boat
If you haven’t yet discovered the Bay in the light of winter, begin with an outing in a traditional boat. Once on the water, the vast size of the location and the feeling of being all alone in the world are incredible. You will almost certainly spot a couple of birds perched on the stakes in the oyster parks… Get out your camera to capture the moment with the Bay’s winter colours in the background!
Walk on the Dune of Le Pilat
Go to the Dune of Le Pilat for a magical view of the Bay in winter. Although the stairs will no longer be in place to help you ascend, you can climb to the top the more active way!
Take the opportunity during this quieter period to walk along the summit of the Dune.
Venture as far as you can, the scenery is definitely worth it.
Celebrate Christmas in advance
Before celebrating Christmas with the family, why not get ahead and celebrate it in Arcachon Bay?
Buy a couple of oysters, book a guest room or gite to spend a great weekend away among friends!
In December, ice rinks are installed in Arcachon and Lège to the delight of both children and parents!
You can also see Father Christmas who comes a little early to have his photo taken with the children, and in Arcachon he even arrives by boat!
Do your Christmas shopping in Arcachon
After the ice rink, head to Arcachon’s shops to finish off your Christmas shopping!
Take the opportunity to combine necessity and leisure by wandering along the piers after a well-earned shopping trip.
Shopping in the January sales
Another not-to-be-missed event after Christmas is: the sales!
Go to Arcachon or Andernos, the home decoration shops in Grand Piquey or the Bay’s pretty second-hand shops.
Spend the day between shops, hot chocolate breaks in a cafe and walks through the villages.
